This Week's Picks #1

This week's favourites are mostly eye-related. They've been my go-to products whenever I step out for sunshine as they're easy to use.

Essence Liquid Eyeliner
At the moment I've been loving this a lot. I'm a person who goes for felt tip eyeliners but in someway this one is easy to use as it comes with a ultra soft tip. It's easy to apply, the tip goes smoothly for a cat flick but it gets a bit fiddly when I apply above my eyelashes. It takes time for me to get used to the tip but practice makes it better. The eyeliner is the blackest black as you can see from the swatch, it is extremely matte which I love. The staying power is amazing, it stays the whole day and it's waterproof. I would have to swipe a few times with a cleansing water to take it off.

Collection Brightening Concealer
Since I was running out of concealer, I decided to give to this a try and I'm proudly to say Collection has done it again with their concealers. I got it in the shade, Natural which may be a bit too light for my skin tone but it is a great colour to cover em dark circles and brighten it up. It does not only covers the dark circles but it can be used as a liquid highlighter on the nose bridge, forehead, chin and anywhere on the face to add a bit of radiance. It comes with a creamy concealer but it does blend out well with either a brush or even your fingertips. Once applied, I'll set it with a powder to avoid it from creasing and for it to stay in place for long hours.

Big Eyes Mascara
To be honest, I don't think I've ever repurchase any mascaras as I'm not fussy when it comes to it. As long as it does it's job, I'm fine but I'd definitely repurchase this one. I love how it comes with a special brush for the lower lashes and upper lashes. It makes it easier to get the clumpy effect like how Alexa Chung does it. It might not be obvious on the picture as my eyelashes are way too short! If you're a massive fan of the clumpy look on the lower lashes, I would recommend this mascara. It comes a plastic bristles for the upper lashes which are good for separation and avoid the spidery lashes. Apart from that, it's waterproof but it is easy to remove it with coconut oil or any eye makeup removers.

Bronze The Eye

I can honestly say, I'm not adventurous when it comes to eyeshadows. I'm pretty much all about bronze, nudes and neutrals, just nothing too fancy. It's rather odd to see me with blue or green smokey eyes, the furthest I can go is with the Naked 3 as it's very subtle on my skin tone. So for the times I'd go for the easy bronze look, I'll just apply a bronze shade all over the lids. Lately, I've been using the MUA Eyeshadow Palette in Undressed for a hint of bronze. I tend to reach out for the shimmery bronze shades just to add a bit of a colour. For a typical day to day basis, I'll keep it simple and add a hint of it to make my eyes appear more awake and wider. It comes with 12 different shades but I do find the colours are pretty close to each other, there's not much variety. If you're a girl who stays on a safe side with eyeshadows I don't think this would be a problem. Apart from that, the eyeshadows do fall out, so to avoid it I'll pat on the lids or sweep away the excess with a powder brush. To be honest this is not the most pigmented eye palette as other high-end palettes but it is a pretty decent palette to fit into the low-budget.

Big Hair with Lucidol Designing Whip Hair Foam

Designing Whip Foam <Volume> by Lucido-l
Ever since I was a kid, it was all about straight silky hair but the world has come around to the messy, textured and volumed hair. The bigger, the better. The messier, the better. It has interest me to achieve  the big hairdo especially when I had my long hair. Having to read international bloggers raving on numerous texturising sprays just amazed me. So I went on hunting for anything with the word 'volume' till I came across Designing Whip Foam <Volume> by Lucido-l that I purchased from Guardian. Lucido-l hair products are all over Guardian and Watsons, heard great things about it so I thought why not, give it a try.

It has become one of my staple products in styling my hair. It says to create voluminous hairstyle and natural airy finish, and to be honest it does what it says (excepts the natural airy finish, not too sure what it looks like). The product is in a foam formulation which dispense easily from the can. I usually apply the foam on my roots (after blow-drying) with scrunching motion and lift my hair upwards. For better results, I usually blow dry my hair after applying to let it soak into my roots and lifting the hair with a hairbrush to give maximum boost to my roots. I sometimes backcombed if only I need to. I then apply a bit of it on the ends of my hair to give more texture to it. It does stays on till the next wash and made it easier for me to achieve the messy bun on the next day.

It gives a little bit of hold and volume without making my hair overly sticky but since it's in the form of whip foam, the texture it's a bit annoying to my skin as it can be sticky at times. So usually I'll stick to 2 golf-ball sized portion of the product. The whip foam also is not to my liking, as it needs more effort to it, I'd rather it be in spray formulation. It might be a hassle for those who are looking for products that allows you style your hair on-the-go. Apart from that, it is priced at a reasonable rate - RM 30.With the purse-friendly rate and how well it works on me, I'm pretty impressed with it. If you're looking for another alternative to the haircare products at Sephora which may be a bit pricey, I think this would do. No regrets for purchasing this product.
